Robots that clean and vacuum offer the convenience of cleaning both dry debris and wet mess in one session and without the need to switch devices. They also can save space compared to two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.
A good combination bot must be able to navigate well and have excellent obstacles avoidance. Look for models that have docks that let them automatically empty their bins, fill their water tanks and machine-wash the mopping pads.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It's among the easiest robots to set up that we've tested. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and an easy-to-follow guide will have you running with a clean, complete dust bag, hard floor solution and water tank in a matter of minutes.
The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can mop and vacuum well. robot vacuum cleaners uk are spun at a high speed and utilize 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to get rid of pet hair, dirt and sticky dried spills. The vacuum has four power modes, a selection of brushes and attachments and a user-friendly application that lets you pick the type of cleaning you'd like for each room.
For example, you can choose to have the robot do a deep clean in the living and kitchen but be careful with the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro's front colision sensors and smart navigation technology are also excellent and the robot is capable of detecting small obstacles that other models have difficulty overcoming. Its only drawback is that it tends to smash into walls and other objects at full speed. However, a quick glance at the history of cleaning in the app will tell you exactly what it's doing, where it's going, and which obstacles it's run into or avoided.
A convenient LCD screen on the docking station informs the maintenance tasks that need to be done including emptying the debris tray, and rinsing its dirty water tank. It's also able to mix detergent automatically into the water tank using a 600ml bottle of the eufy's solution.
Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop come with plenty of running time as well, with the mop being able to operate for up to 184 minutes in quiet mode and the vacuum able to do 136 minutes in normal mode, before having to recharge or return to the base to refill. The app is simple to use and intuitive and lets you look at all the details of the cleaning.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the latest version of the company's most popular robot mop and vacuum. The model of this year features an agitator that doubles as its mopping pad. This enhances the cleaning capabilities of carpets with this model. The S8 Pro Ultra has an enhanced suction power that enables it to pick up smaller hairs as well as other debris other robotic cleaners might miss.
As with the two other Roborock models I've tested it also has a 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology that can help it avoid walls, furniture and other obstacles. But the S8 Pro Ultra takes things a step further by adding a dual camera which can detect objects and determine whether they're a wall or another surface. It can then change its path automatically and clean around the objects without stumbling.
It's the most expensive of the three models I've examined, but it's also packed with features. Its sleek, angular design is striking and has only three physical buttons that include the power button which also resumes cleaning; a mop-only switch that doubles as a child lock; and a home button to send the robot back to its dock. The hinged lid opens to reveal a 350ml trash bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank is automatically filled and the bin auto-refills.
The only downside I've discovered with this model is that the VibraRise mop pad mount isn't removable. You can change the mopping cloth if required, but it's not easy to take the mount off to wash it manually. I've observed that any carpet that the robot crosses will come into contact with the rough Velcro like fastener on mounts, which can cause scratches.
The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart capabilities, including support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can set up and manage these via the Roborock app, which is also home to its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app lets you schedule cleanings and monitor battery life. You'll need to go through some hoops to activate voice control on this model. It's a shame considering the performance otherwise.
3. Dreame X40
The Dreame X40 is an industry-leading robot vacuum and mop that has incredible suction power, sophisticated mowing capabilities, and innovative features. Its intelligent design allows for customised and efficient cleaning while reducing time.
The X40 robot vacuum cleaner is the first to offer 12,000 Pascals cleaning power. It is one of the most powerful options available. This powerful vacuum can clear up pet hair dust, crumbs and any other dry debris. It also has a high-quality mop that leaves hard floors spotlessly clean, even with a wet pad. The X40 is also extremely quiet while in use, with only occasional bursts during mode changes or self-maintenance.
Another noteworthy feature is the X40's expandable and liftable side brushes, which allows it to get into difficult-to-access corners as well as clean curved furniture like table and chair legs. The robot is also able to reach under low-profile furnishings which makes it a great choice for small apartments or condos. The side brush tilts automatically down when it detects wet spots. This is a wonderful feature that helps the X40 to prevent damage to floors from repeated back-and-forth movements.
Unlike other robots, which are limited to one task, the X40 can mop and vacuum simultaneously. It can also be programmed to eliminate areas that have carpet and only mop hard floors, and vice versa. It can be controlled using the Dreame App or Alexa, Siri, or Google Home to ensure smooth voice-controlled operation.
The app is easy to use and intuitive and the X40 has many smart features that are simple to install. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, adjust suction power and mode, look at floor plans and maps and manage mopping settings. The X40 can also track its progress and notify you when it's done.
The X40 is easy to maintain and has numerous features that make it a great choice for busy families. The docking station automatically empty the dustbin into a large 3.2 L bin, washes the mop pads, and refills them with fresh water and cleaning solution. It also can detect whether the mop pad is at its capacity to the max and notify you of the situation prior to it bursting.
4. L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models available. However, it has several features that make it stand out. Smart DuoScrub, a new feature in its mops, uses two high-speed mop heads to scrub floors more thoroughly. It also has a suction force of 7,000Pa. This is more than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra and Ecovacs Deebots T20 Omni. It can also clean pet hair, small dirt particles and remove spills and dirty spots.
The mop mops are cleaned and dried in the base station every time they are used. This is beneficial as it keeps mould and unpleasant odours that can build up in the storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robot vacuum and mop models. It could be a great way to keep your home clean longer.
There's a plethora of settings available, including the ability to schedule cleaning and adjust a number of different preferences.
